Monday was a day Tara Sprandel will remember forever as Sprandel threw her first no-hitter at Colerain in their 13-0 victory over Princeton.
No Princeton batter was able to locate Sprandel’s pitches during the game. Sprandel threw a no-hitter, striking out six batters and walking one while recording her momentous feat. She got Ferguson to strike out for the final out of the game.
The biggest inning for Colerain was the fourth. In the inning Colerain scored 10 runs. Colerain scored in the fourth on a passed ball, a fielder’s choice, a passed ball, a walk by Camryn Huber, an error, a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly by Hayley Roberts, and a two-run single by Aubree Hacker.
Hacker racked up two RBIs on three hits for Colerain.
Colerain stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring one run on an RBI single by Sprandel. The Cardinals then piled on two more runs in the top of the third. A ground out scored Angel Ehrenschwender for the inning’s first run.
With today’s win, the team moves to 3-6 in conference play and will continue Wednesday at Hamilton with a 5:00 start time.
