The Boys Bowling team headed north to Beavercreek, OH for the 2017 OHSAA District Championships on Wednesday March 1 after finishing 3rd in Sectionals the week before.
The top 5 teams in the District qualify for the state tournament. The competition was fierce as the best of the best assembled at Beaver-Vu Lanes to see who would earn the right to advance to the State Tournament.
The Boys started off rough, rolling a 774 in their first game, finding themselves in 18th place out of 24 teams. They fought back big-time in game #2 by rolling a 904 and jumping all the way up to 9th place. By scoring an 856 in the 3rd and final regular game, the Cards found themselves in 11th place heading into Bakers. That, unfortunately, would be the closest the Cards would get as they stumbled a bit and after all was said and done, they finished 17th of 24 teams with no individual qualifiers. The Cardinals were led by Brad McNickle (’17) who rolled a 546.
Even though the season didn’t end the way they would have liked, the Cards have nothing to hang their collective heads about. They finished with a 13-4 regular season record and yet another trip to the District Tournament.
Thanks to Seniors Brad McNickle and Brandon Nuttle for all they have meant to the program. We wish them the best in all their future endeavors.
