Multiple Teams · Girls Varsity Soccer Splits Pair to Open the Season

The Lady Cardinals varsity soccer team started out their season this week with the first game on Monday against the Mercy Bobcats. The game started out with an exciting goal from Amy Anderson with the assist from Sofia Wilmes to put the Cardinals up 1-0. Mercy got a goal towards the end of the first half to tie the game at 1-1. During the second half Mercy collected a pair of goals to end the game with a 3-1 victory over Colerain.


The second game of the season was on Thursday night at Talawanda High School.  Talawanda scored on a breakaway to end the first half leading 1-0. The Lady Cardinals came out of the second half and Rachel Dorr quickly scores a fantastic goal to even the score at 1-1. This gets the Cardinals momentum going and lots of shots taken at Talawanda’s goal during the second half. Carmen Able makes an awesome run on the attack and is taken out of the goal box, with a pentalty kick called. Sofia Wilmes takes the penalty shot and puts it in to take the lead, Lady Cardinals go up 2-1.  The Cardinals add another goal by Madelyn Koewler with the assist from Korrine Haines to finish the game with a win of 3-1 over Talawanda!


There’s a lot of potential in this Lady Cardinals team this year….please come out and support! 

Their next game is at home next Thursday (8/31) against the Harrison Wildcats at 7…would love to see you there!!!
