Colerain Cross Country Varsity Coach
The boys cross country team had a very strong season in which a lot of growth occurred. Our team was fairly young this year with many sophomores and juniors stepping up to play a role on the varsity team. They had a season of new personal records (PRs) almost weekly and learned a lot about the sport. Seniors Keith Burton, Ben Plylar, and John Bennett led the way for the underclassmen and helped them to understand the sport.
The girls team saw multiple successes throughout the season. Lead by seniors Madelynn Frey and Shelbie Truett the girls finished 2nd at the Eaton Invitational and 3rd in the GMC. At the district meet, the girls finished in 5th place qualifying them to the Regional meet in Troy this Saturday October 28. At Regionals, the top 6 teams and top 24 individuals will qualify to the State XC meet.
Both teams have worked very hard since June to build mileage and mental toughness to help them through the season. We are really excited about our progress this year and what is to come in 2018.
Congrats to Coach Chisom and all the Cross Country runners on a great season and we look forward to seeing the results of the girls race at Regionals.
UPDATE: The girls ran a solid race at Regionals on Saturday October 28 and finished 13th out of 18 teams. The Lady XC Cardinals were paced by STATE QUALIFIERS Madelynn Frey (12th) and Shelbie Truett (18th)!!
Congrats to both Madelynn and Shelbie on their great season…so far! Their season continues next Saturday at 12:30 at National Trail Raceway in Columbus. $10 admission per person.
